Senior Process/Project/Plant Design Engineer
Skyonic Corporation is developing a commercial scale, state-of-the-art, flue gas remediation project in San Antonio, Texas that removes CO2, NOx, SOx and heavy metals (e.g. Hg) from power plant, cement plant, and refinery emissions.
Position Description:
The position combines plant design, equipment specification and process development and characterization work. Processes include membrane cell electrolysis, heat transfer, absorption, electrochemistry, distillation, solids and fluids handling, drying, filtration and controls. Uses and implements analytical equipment for process analysis. Researches and specifies new processes and the purchase of new equipment and or upgrades to existing equipment. Creates theoretical models and process simulations of chemical processes and unit operations. Develops project plans and budgets. Creates and communicates standard operating procedures, technical papers and technical presentations. This position will require approximately 25 to 50 percent domestic and international travel.
Desired Qualifications:
A PhD or MS in Chemical Engineering with 10-years of relevant experience in the chlor-alkali or electrochemical production industry is preferred. Experience in the following fields or industries will also be considered: chemical and petrochemical processing, industrial gas generation; mass and heat transfer operations; process control and monitoring. Key knowledge and skills include:
Process characterization using design of experiments
Creation of PFD and P&ID drawings
Project management
Process and equipment specification, design and engineering experience
Effective oral communication, technical writing and industry networking
Driving costs out of equipment and processes
Ability to use computer tools for CAD, SPC, DOE and process simulation.
